Welcome to love and life !

I love writing but my concerns may vary a lot. I was well into fitness & health, business studies, home & living, food, movies, manga & anime, travel and a whole lot of self improvement and talks about valuing life. I enjoy cooking and baking as much as i does writing.
One of the main reason I got this blog set up is because I love writing poems and articles about love, relationship and matters pertaining the heart. Love is such a general idea that .. (More)

Short History of Halloween & All Time Favorite Halloween Costumes

It’s that time of the year again, when people busy looking for ideas of what to be and what to wear as well as prospective pranks to do. Yes, it’s the scary and eerie Halloween. It’s time for costume parties, trick-or treating costumes, bonfires, divination, ghost tours, pranks and lots of chocolates, sweets and pumpkins - probably to go together with those scary ghost stories and movies. Nowadays, Halloween means a lot more of fancy dresses and parties rather than anything scary. It is a celebration anticipated by children and adults altogether.

Origin of Halloween Day

Halloween day is a secular celebration dated every year on the 31st October and originated from an ancient Gaelic festival of Samhain and the Christian holy day of All Saints. But in short, you can say it is some sort of like a celebration for the dead, perhaps just like the Chinese customary celebration of ‘Ghost festival’. It was said that at the time of the festival of Samhain, the border between the living world and the world of the dead became thin, allowing spirits both bad and good ones to past through. In order to ward off the bad ones, the people wear mask and costumes.

Well, apart from all the scary stuffs, Halloween is fun and exciting, especially on the part of costume making and parties. Plus, you can take this opportunity to bond with your other family members as well. However, due to its roots in Celtic cultures, Halloween is not celebrated in all countries and regions of the world; and among those that do the traditions and importance of the celebration vary significantly.

Halloween cosplay

Fancy dress, ghost costumes, accessories making, party decoration, sweets and foods to bake, all means a lot of work, time and effort to make a memorable, fun and exciting Halloween celebration every year. Young girls and boys loves dressing up as all time favorite horror stories characters like Count and Countess Dracula, the devil, skeletons, ghost of all kinds and shapes, pirates and superheroes. There are also other well known characters that aren’t much associated with anything scary like Disney princesses, fairies, cats, witches and pumpkins. But adults can be pretty involved and consumed in this costume making as well, much more than children do. Don’t leave it to last minute preparation if you want to make an impact this coming Halloween. Make sure you plan ahead for your costume making.

I have a few of my own favorite Halloween costume ideas. But remember, sometimes the easiest and common characters are the best - it’s classic for Halloween and can never be down rated. Perhaps for this Halloween you can be…

  • The beautiful yet eerie witch. They’re bewitching, sexy and ominous.
  • The man who escaped the fantasy world - the dark elf.
  • The female ghost in kimono - go oriental with long black hair and white face, freaky.
  • The wicked clown from ‘IT’ movie - with black eyes and menacing sharp teeth.

Whatever you become this coming 31st October, Happy Halloween!! But watch out for those calories! ^0^
