This will be the first initial post on motivational quotes and poems. Even in today’s modern and high-tech world, I see that there is still a crucial need of motivational support through writing especially. It should be something that sparks the evolution of man as a fine being, yet delicate.
As most people are prone to be more pessimistic and de-motivated than being positive just about everything, it is important to know ways that can raise your spirit back up. Perhaps that is the reason why I started on this new segment.
For a start, I’ll list a few of my favorite motivational quotes and poems for you to read and keep at heart, or in view.
‘If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired of waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give a way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim,
If you meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same
And if you can with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And - which is more - you’ll be a Man, my son!’
Rudyard Kipling; Rewards and Fairies (1910) ‘If -‘
.
‘How small of all that human hearts endure,
That part which laws or kings can cause or cure.
Still to ourselves in every place consigned,
Our own felicity we make or find.’
Samuel Johnson; Lines in Oliver Goldsmith’s - The Traveller (1764)
.
‘I believe man will not merely endure, he will prevail.
He is immortal, not because he, alone mong
Creatures, has an inexhaustible voice but because he
has a soul, a spirit capable of compassion and sacrifice
and endurance.’
William Faulkner; Nobel Prize speech (1950)
.
Some people may say it’s a little corny but I see nothing wrong in living and getting inspired by other people’s writing and words every once in a while. I see it as one of the way of nourishing my thoughts, perception and views, and for most reasons, is to get myself constantly motivated. Well, I hope you will benefit and enjoy this segment of ‘Motivational Quotes and Poems‘ at Love and Life. I will keep it coming from time to time.
