Not long ago, I watched a drama about a man trapped between his career and the need to focus on the family. His wife left him and their daughter due to his lack of attention and concern because of overworking. Yes, his own workaholic nature cost him that much. With little knowledge on how to run a family (especially on parenting) and a household on his own, he managed to make 360 degrees of changes that eventually turned him into a new man.
It ticks me to write on the issue.
Power, money, pedigree has long been the main temptations of man - that either brings the uttermost pleasure or the deepest pain. We often see in movies and sometimes in real life of people killings those closely related to them, for money, pride and power. There are people in the ancient times who killed their new born daughters out of shame - shame to have borne a female child. That was long time ago, though.
There’s a modern way of going about the issue that doesn’t necessarily involve death directly but a long term suffering of the mind and emotion. Children were abandoned and neglected to pursue personal pleasure and goals; and there are also cases where children were abused out of anger and the feeling of dissatisfaction on personal matters.
It makes me wonder, where is the love that we forever talks about? Is it really that pride and career worth more than a family? In the end, i still think a wise man is a man who knows how to balance and control his own life in all aspects.
